Safe Asbestos Cladding Removal Process

Step 1: PPE & Site Safety Preparation

All workers wore the required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and RPE (RespiratoryProtective Equipment). Weather conditions were monitored to ensure a safe work environment. If weather conditions changed, polythene sheeting was used to secure exposed areas.

Step 2: Controlled Asbestos Cladding Removal

Site Protection: Poly sheeting was placed to protect surrounding areas.

Mist Spraying: Asbestos sheets were mist-sprayed before removal to minimise airborne fibres. Non-Invasive Techniques: Correct hand tools were used to carefully detach asbestos cladding.

HEPA Vacuuming: HEPA-filtered vacuums were used for cleaning; brushing was avoided to prevent dust spread.Water Suppression: Mist water spray was used while loosening nails and bolts.

Step 3: Asbestos Waste Handling & Disposal

• Double-Wrapping & Sealing: All asbestos sheets were wrapped in 200-micron polythene, sealed with adhesive and polycloth tape, and labelled.
• Secure Transport: Wrapped asbestos was placed into a lined disposal bin and transported to a WorkSafe-approved disposal facility.
• Final Clearance: Communication with an independent asbestos assessor ensured compliance before clearance.
